Unfortunately, it's only available for Windows and I only have access to Linux PCs. The noise keeps me up, so eventually I just unplug it so I can sleep.Īpparently, Seagate offers a software tool that enables me to change this setting. My old HDD did that, but the new one keeps running for days and weeks, even if it's not in use at all.
But since the router and the harddrive are in my bedroom (only place from where the WiFi can reach the whole house), I want it to go to sleep if I don't access it for a few minutes. It's connected to my router, so it's always mounted and always has power.
I have a bit of a problem with an external hard drive (Seagate Expansion Desktop 2TB).
